Wendy Ongaro
Physician Assistant
My passion for medicine started when I worked in a 25-bed rural hospital in Eastern Washington State as a nurse’s aide for three years through college. I helped care for patients across the life span with a wide range of services including acute care, emergency care, post-operative care, delivery / postpartum, and end of life care.
I have worked over the last 23 years as a nurse practitioner in urgent care, otolaryngology, and community health - including in homeless clinics, the Veterans Administration, and as the Executive Director of the Sheridan Health Center.
The goal of my practice is to meet the patient in their experience of wellness. I am creative and tenacious making sure patients receive the care they need, regardless the challenges they face.

How I fell for Wyoming…
My husband and I had stopped for gas in Sheridan while traveling from Pullman, Washington to Duke University where I graduated from the Physician Assistant program in 2001. I immediately fell in love with Sheridan, and vowed to return once completing my program.
I am a member of the Silverado’s horse club, and spend as much time possible up in the Big Horn Mountains with my pack horses.
